Turkey undertakes major operation against IS, arrests 70 suspects

Turkey arrested 70 suspected members of the Islamic State group from across the country on Saturday. According to the state news agency Anadolu, a total of 33 people have been arrested in Ankara province. All members of the arrested group are Iraqis. Other members of the group are arrested from Batman, Kasseri and Adana province.

On Monday, Turkey launched a major operation against IS militants. The move to Istanbul aims to push IS back to their country of origin. Turkey has suffered IS attacks in 2015 and 2016. An Istanbul nightclub had carried out a major massacre celebrating the 2017 New Year. 39 people were killed in it.

Please tell that in Turkey hundreds of foreign fighters are in jails here. The Turkish government indicated that it would send these fighters back even if their citizenship in their countries had been revoked. Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu says that countries around the world have adopted a new way of ending citizenship nowadays. Countries said that they should be punished where they have been caught.

Turkey has started sending alleged foreigners whose strings were linked to the Islamic State group back to their countries, even though some European countries are reluctant to take back their citizens. Germany, Denmark, and Britain have abolished the citizenship of their citizens who were allegedly associated with the jihadist group to prevent them from returning.

Turkey said that on 12 November, three jihadist fighters have been sent to their respective countries, Germany, Denmark, and the United States. Turkey said there are plans to send many others back to their homeland soon. Turkey had caught an American citizen on the border with Greece, after which he wanted to cross the border of Greece back instead of going to America. At the same time, Greece refused to enter her country and was told that she is now back in Turkish custody. Similarly, a Danish citizen was arrested as soon as he reached the capital, Copenhagen. The Germans withdrew members of the Islamic State, were either put on trial or placed in rehabilitation programs. France insisted that its citizens caught in Syria or Iraq would face litigation at the local level.
