India strongly rejected Pakistan's move to raise the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in the UN Security Council

India strongly rejected Pakistan's move to raise the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in the UN Security Council, saying that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country. Pakistan or any other country cannot be heard on it.

Pakistan's newly appointed envoy to the United Nations, Munir Akram, raised the Kashmir issue in his first address to the Security Council. Akram said that it is the responsibility of the Security Council to look into and diagnose issues that threaten international peace and security. But the long-delayed inaction on Jammu and Kashmir has raised the concern of Pakistan.

Nagaraj Naidu, Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, reacted to Akram's statement, saying that we reject the non-essential mention by the Pakistan delegation regarding the status of an integral part of India. I would like to remind that both countries have already reached an agreement to negotiate on this issue. There is no point in raising it on the international stage.

On August 5, India abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into two union territories. India has always maintained that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of it. Pakistan has repeatedly tried to raise it on the international stage.
