Republican led Probe said Russia help President Donald Trump during 2016 election

Republican led Probe said Russia help President Donald Trump during 2016 election

An investigation by the Republican Party stated that Russia helped Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. This report was presented in the Senate on Tuesday. Trump himself is from the Republican Party. Earlier, the White House claimed that Trump did not get any help from Russia in the election.

The 2016 Election Investigation Report of the Senate Intelligence Committee stated that the Internet Research Agency (IRA) based in St. Petersburg (Russia) ran the campaign on social media. This campaign was run for a person who was Russia's favorite candidate. The campaign led to the loss of Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton in the presidential election, as she was more likely to win. At the behest of the Kremlin (the residence and office of the President of Russia), the Russian agency gathered support for Trump. According to the report - the IRA got overwhelming support for the Republican candidate in the 2016 election through his social media activity.

The investigation led by the Republican senator

The case was investigated under the leadership of Republican Senator Richard Barr. Trump has consistently advocated that Russia interfered in any way in the presidential election. They have been describing such news as fake news. Trump and his fellow Republicans brought out an unproven theory. It added that Democrats had planned to influence Trump in the 2016 election in conjunction with Ukraine.

Trump may also influence the 2020 election

The Senate Intelligence Committee report warned that Russia could interfere in the 2020 election as well. Therefore agencies need to be careful.

There were earlier reports against Trump

In a 448-page report this year, 74-year-old Special Counsel Robert Müller said - "Russian Army officials tried to influence the election of Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton." The report was submitted to the law ministry on 18 April. However, at the end of the report he wrote that sufficient evidence could not be found in the Russian intervention case. The report revealed that Trump tried to control the Russian meddling investigation. He also tried to get Muller removed from the investigation. Muller was posted in the Justice Department.

Impeachment against Trump

Speaker of the House of Representatives (the lower house of the US Parliament) Nancy Pelosi spoke of impeaching against Trump in September. Trump is accused of pressuring Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zalensky to investigate a corruption case against Democrat leader Joe Biden and his son Hunter. A whistleblower had filed a complaint in the case. However, Trump has said that he is ready to give details of the conversation with Jalensky in a phone call.
